Waitara Public School’s vision for reconciliation is to celebrate our diverse community and share responsibility for reconciliation. We are committed to deeply connecting with and learning about the cultures, languages, practices, and stories of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We believe in providing equal and equitable opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to have access to quality education that supports all students to make meaningful transitions to life beyond the classroom, building resilient, respectful, and responsible future citizens who are inspired to achieve their personal best, share their voice; and positively influencing their communities. We place importance of championing reconciliation with First Nations people and advocating for unity, equality, and equity on non–Indigenous people in the reconciliation process. We encourage them to adopt inclusive practices and instill the aspirations for a fair and respectful relationships for all people of Australia. We are optimistic of a time when equality and equity is actively fostered between non-Indigenous and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples in our community and when reconciliation is a lived reality.
