Lady of the Sacred Heart Thamarrurr Catholic College

VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Our Lady of The Sacred Heart Thamarrurr Catholic College has a vision for reconciliation which includes recognising and acknowledging the special nature of our community and respecting the culture, customs and knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people within our community.

We have an ongoing commitment to bilingual education and will continue to build on our learning programs to ensure the preservation and development of the Murrinhpatha language.

We will continue to participate in the sharing of cultures and histories through trips on Country with students, staff and their families, having Elders from the different clan groups share their knowledge with our students and staff and celebrate cultural events and faith filled events such as First Communion and the Sacrament of Confirmation.

Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Thamarrurr is committed to a shared leadership model with the Senior Leadership Team and Catholic Aboriginal Leadership Team working together in the shared leadership of the school.

We will continue to empower and support all our educational community members to feel a sense of belonging and purpose.

OLSH Wadeye recognises the importance of building strong relationships with families and acknowledges the diverse range of student needs and ambitions.

Our vision for reconciliation begins with creating equal and equitable opportunities for all children and supporting and preparing them for their roles as future leaders and educators.
