Our vision is to see every member of the Somerset College community actively recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Australians. We are committed to creating environments that cultivate genuine and lasting partnerships that are based upon mutual respect and a shared sense of responsibility for the future of reconciliation in Australia. We are committed to continuing to develop authentic two-way relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and community members, to deepen our awareness and understanding of the diverse cultural heritages and histories, and to providing sustainable and culturally responsive professional learning opportunities for staff and employment opportunities with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We are committed to developing a greater awareness of, and respect for, the unique culture and true history of the Kombumerri People of the Yugambeh Language Region through genuine consultation and collaboration between staff and local Traditional Owners and Elders.
