The Early Learning Centre of Margaret River

VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Our kindergarten has a vision to respectfully include Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures in our everyday practice. We express deep regret for the injustices suffered by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and children as a result of colonial policies and practices and we acknowledge the impact of these injustices on human dignity and spirit. We also acknowledge the continued strength and resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in the face of these injustices and we would like to form strong bonds with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples so we can learn together.

A better understanding and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures develops an enriched appreciation of Australia's cultural heritage and can lead to reconciliation. This is an essential part of shaping our shared history and is fundamental to the development of a united Australian identity.
