Tarragindi Child Care and Development is committed to providing an environment that is safe, supportive, creative and inspiring for everyone, with strong relationships and partnerships between the children, the educators and staff, support professionals, families and the wider community, including the local First Nations community. We value early childhood education as the foundation for lifelong learning, and as a core building block towards reconciliation.

As a Centre we acknowledge that, for our environment to be safe and supportive for everyone, reconciliation must continue to be a priority action within the Centre’s broader operations. As such, we are continuing to work both with our staff, as well as our broader community, to grow and develop our cultural knowledge and understanding in order to promote strong relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. We recognise that the Lands across Australia on which we live, play, learn and work every single day are stolen Lands, while recognising that these Lands always were and always will be Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Lands. We are committed to building partnerships and strong relationships with members of the community to support connection to culture and Country.

So too are we are committed to continuing our learning about First Nations perspectives to respectfully embed reconciliation practices into all areas of planning and curriculums. These are early steps in our ongoing journey, but we are committed to ensuring reconciliation remains a priority in the Centre’s growth and development, and that we continue to walk with First Nations peoples on this journey.

As a centre we are continuing to grow and develop our understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures as the oldest living cultures in the world with over 60,000 years of stories, histories and continuing contributions.
