This Land is Mine, This Land is Me (Secondary)

overview

Through engaging with a short film centred on the song ‘This land is mine’, by Kev Carmody and Paul Kelly, students develop an appreciation of the importance of connecting to Country for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Students also critically compare non-Indigenous and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander conceptualisations of ‘Country’, ‘ownership’ and ‘boundaries’. They reflect on why acknowledging and honouring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander relationships with place is important for reconciliation.
