Sharing Stories (Early Learning)

overview

Listening directly to local Elders and Traditional Owners is the best way for them to share their histories and cultures. But this is not always possible on an immediate or regular basis.

In this activity, children watch, listen to and learn from the Sharing Stories Foundation stories about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures.

Some of the stories are narrated by Elders and Traditional Owners, and some are narrated by the children the stories were passed down to.

When using the Sharing Stories platform, children learn:

  • an early awareness and appreciation for Elders’ and Traditional Owners’ stories about histories and cultures

  • the importance of actively listening

  • the value of safe sharing.
